Romana Zvereva MD

Dr. Zvereva is a Board Certified psychiatrist who completed her Psychiatry Residency and Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center 1998-2003, where she was instrumental in establishing the first ACGME accredited fellowship in Southern California while serving as the first Addiction Psychiatry Fellow.
Since her graduation in 2003, Dr. Zvereva has been employed as a consultant at Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. In February, 2015, Dr. Zvereva transitioned to the Betty Ford Outpatient Clinic in West Los Angeles, CA, where she retired from in 2021.
Dr. Zvereva has participated in numerous specialized Clinical Diagnostic Evaluations of individuals referred by different professional agencies such as the Lawyers Assistance Program, Nursing, Dental, Medical, and EMI Boards as well as Airspace industry.
Dr. Zvereva received her training through the Cedars-Sinai Chronic Pain and Fibromyalgia Program as well as Loma Linda Chronic Pain Program and has a special interest in non-opiate pain management. Through the years, Dr. Zvereva treated patients with substance use disorders in a variety of settings- such as inpatient, residential, sober living, outpatient, department of corrections, county mental health services, as well as skid rows.
Dr. Zvereva has participated as a Chair and presenter at various CSAM Conferences, Workshops on dual diagnosis, intervention and assessment of impaired physicians as well as Regional Meetings.
She has co-authored Chapter 5 in the Third Edition of Principles of Addiction Medicine “Management of Intoxication and Withdrawal from Club Drugs, Cocaine, Marijuana and PCP.”
Currently she teaches Addiction and Spirituality Course at Ventura County Community Memorial Services Psychiatric Residency

Volunteer Work
Dr. Zvereva served as a Physician Member at the Diversion Evaluation Committee for the California Board of Registered Nursing between 2004-2013.
She has been an active member of the California Society of Addiction Medicine and the American Society of Addiction Medicine since 2002, serving on the CSAM Executive Council as a Treasurer, Chair of the Membership Committee, and Chair of the State of the Art Conference.
